sending GPS coordinates

Apr 12, 2009 at 9:48 AM

Feature: To send via SMS and/or email the actual gps coordinates

wiht a link to google maps that if somebody is clicking on the link google maps will open and will show the position.

Extended feature could be to be able to define pathes to installed programms on the PPC to other programs such as TomTom, Navigatore, Google Maps, etc to be able to open those programms with the gps coordinates.

This feature is helpfull to find friends in an unknown envirement (big city, ski resort, Disney world, etc)

Best regards

I agree that would be a cool feature, but I'm not entirely sure that's within the scope of a contacts manager.  I see FFF has it, but I still am not sure I want to spend time on that.  Plus, I'm pretty sure I've seen some GPS software out there that does exactly what you want and goes above and beyond what you suggested.

Quick google and here's some:

Yes the question is not to "overload" an application. On the other side you could also argue a contact manager is the place were you manage the informations from and to a contact. I still have fff installed because of this feature (GPS coordinate). From a usage point of view me personaly I find it quite natural to send my GPS coordinates to an exisiting cotact from the contact manager rather than to start another "special gps" application.

during the day I am using maybe 90% calender, email and icontact, the rest of all the other applications I have is much minor.

Unfortunatly I cannot help you with programming.

Best regards

PS: Many thanks for the new 7.05 Release!!!

I will definitely keep this in mind, but it will probably be a while before anything like this is released. :-)
